Yuri Alberto has returned to the Corinthians squad and is available to face Chapecoense on Thursday at 21:30 at Arena Condá, in the seventh round of the Brasileirão.
The striker signalled a possible comeback last Friday after close to a month out with a grade 2 injury to his left hamstring, sustained against São Bernardo in the Paulistão.
"I am happy to be back. It was a very important week of readaptation for me. Being available to professor Dorival already gives a great lift. We are very prepared. It was an important draw away to Santos and we know Thursday will be a difficult game too. A win would put us near the top," he told Corinthians TV.
The number nine has good memories against this opponent. In 2021 he scored in Internacional’s 2-1 win in Chapecó, then hit a hat-trick in a 5-2 victory at Beira-Rio in the return fixture. "The last time I played in Chapecó, for Internacional in 2021, I scored. Going back to Arena Condá will be special for me. It is my birthday today, and if I score I can give myself that present and gift the Corinthians fans too." He turns 25 on Wednesday.
Corinthians have been without him for six games, scoring only four times in that run, with two goals coming from fellow forwards Memphis Depay and Vitinho. He remains their leading scorer in 2026 with three goals. The team are winless in five and sit eighth on eight points, with Chapecoense 12th on six.
