Yuri Alberto scored for Corinthians in a 1-1 draw at Santos on Thursday at Vila Belmiro, but he missed another penalty, making it four failures in his last five attempts.
According to Globo.com, the club are assessing whether to change their penalty taker after this run.
Of his last five spot-kicks, only one was converted, against São Paulo on 20/11/2025 in the Brasileirão. Weverton saved versus Palmeiras on 30/7/2025 in the Copa do Brasil round of 16, Rossi denied a chipped effort against Flamengo on 28/9/2025, Cássio saved against Cruzeiro on 14/12/2025 in the Copa do Brasil semi-final, and on 22/1/2026 at Santos he shot wide.
Coach Dorival Júnior said the forward shows good numbers in training and that confidence had been maintained, though he did not rule out a change. He added they would discuss and evaluate the role and keep working so the striker can correct it.
Goalkeeper Hugo Souza backed Yuri Alberto, calling him the team’s goalscorer and noting strong work on penalties in training. He said greater concentration might be needed and that the choice should be left to the player and the coach, adding that Gabriel Brazão had moved the other way on the latest attempt.
Corinthians visit Velo Clube on Sunday in the fifth round of the Paulistão.
