Pierre Bédier has written to PSG to defend Poissy’s bid and counter criticism over costs and access for a proposed new stadium.
According to L'Équipe, he sent a two-page letter on 23 June to the Poissy steering committee, which includes the club. The first Parc des Princes steering committee met on 25 June. Poissy, which already hosts PSG’s training centre, is shortlisted with Massy if the club leaves the Porte de Saint-Cloud.
Bédier adopts a lightly ironic tone and argues the road network can handle match traffic without clogging Poissy’s centre. He says straightforward road upgrades are feasible within the club’s timetable.
He focuses on public transport, noting Île-de-France Mobilités puts the works at 552 million euros, with RER lines A and E to Poissy and Poissy Quai Talbot and the T13 tram, yet not meeting PSG’s request for 53% of spectators per hour by this mode. He outlines another technically possible option discussed previously, and recalculates capacity to meet the club’s target.
He asks for that alternative to be revisited, saying it would dispel the idea, echoed in the media, that Poissy requires about 550 million euros of works, a figure he links to an SNCF expert view. PSG has been in talks with the City of Paris and new mayor Emmanuel Grégoire, and aims to choose a site by autumn.
