Cruzeiro beat Grêmio 2-0 at the Estádio Governador Magalhães Pinto, climbing from 17th to 16th in the Brasileirão and leaving the visitors still without an away league win this season.

Gerson was denied by Weverton in the 11th minute after a crisp move. José Enamorado then struck the left post (26.). Matheus Cunha tipped away Pedro Gabriel's long-range effort (41.).

After the restart, Christian finished from the centre after Gerson's lay-off (51.). Lucas Romero doubled the lead with a low strike from outside the box, set up by Matheus Pereira (66.).

Artur Jorge introduced Néiser Villarreal at half-time and Zeiro kept forcing openings, with Keny Arroyo drawing more saves. Villarreal then crashed a shot against the bar in the fourth minute of second half stoppage time.
