Zenit have submitted a bid for Botafogo midfielder Danilo, but the player has rejected the move, keeping Flamengo and Palmeiras in the picture.
According to Coluna Do Fla, Zenit signalled an offer worth €35 million, roughly R$204 million, yet Danilo is not interested in playing in Russia.
Botafogo have sidelined the midfielder from matches, so a stay appears unlikely. At present, Palmeiras are viewed as the closest to signing him despite Flamengo’s interest.
The club that brought him through would only lose out if a major European side submit an offer after the World Cup. Botafogo’s hierarchy believe the tournament could lift his value to €40 million, around R$233 million.
Flamengo are not pushing because the fee exceeds what they intend to spend on a midfielder, a position that is not a priority. Their interests include forward Luiz Henrique of Zenit, who has also been called up.
Danilo has been Botafogo’s standout in 2026, with nine goals and two assists in 21 games. The club’s financial difficulties could be eased by a sale.
