Zinédine Zidane’s first day as France coach marked by ceremony at federation HQ | OneFootball

Zinédine Zidane, the new France head coach, had a polished first day on Tuesday, with his contract due to start on one August. The French federation mobilised significant resources.

According to L'Équipe, nothing was spared to welcome him, with a gala press conference staged at headquarters.

An entire CRS company travelled from Marseille to reinforce Paris units, the neighbourhood was sealed off, and a rehearsal took place the previous day, without the new coach, to make sure the shirts matched the set.

At 11:00 on Tuesday 28 July, the lights came on.

Philippe Diallo entered ahead of the 1998 France Football Ballon d'Or in the federation’s auditorium, where much of the carpeting had been refurbished in recent days.
