Manchester United are reluctant to make big changes in the January transfer window, so talks with Roma and Napoli for Joshua Zirkzee and Kobbie Mainoo are currently on hold.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano says that “there are no signals from Manchester United” regarding the possible sales of Zirkzee and Mainoo this month.

Roma remain interested in the Dutch striker despite the signings of Robinio Vaz and Donyell Malen, while Napoli are long-time admirers of Mainoo.

Romano said in his latest YouTube video that Manchester United were already reluctant to discuss possible sales in the first half of January, as many of their players were involved in the AFCON.

This is even more true now that Michael Carrick has replaced Ruben Amorim as the Red Devils’ coach.

Manchester United are unwilling to make big changes in the January window because Carrick is unlikely to remain in charge in 2026-27, so they’d rather wait for the summer to complete major moves.

Zikrzee is open to joining Roma, but the ball is on the Red Devils’ court and, as of today, there’s no desire to let him or Mainoo leave.
