Zubeldia suffers left hamstring injury, Copa del Rey final in doubt | OneFootball

Real Sociedad said tests showed a left biceps femoris injury, leaving Zubeldia a doubt for the Copa del Rey final in 27 days. The centre-back limped off at La Cerámica during the defeat to Villarreal.

He felt something early, with the defence repeatedly forced into recovery runs to stem Villarreal’s counters. During one such sprint, chasing back to stop Gerard Moreno, he felt a sharp pain in his hamstring and could not get close. He tried to slow but the damage was done.

Club doctor Xabi Valencia treated him on the pitch and the change had already been requested. Duje Caleta-Car came on almost without warming up.

The timing at least coincides with the international break, so he has extra recovery time while competition pauses. With less than one month to the showpiece at La Cartuja on 18 April, his participation remains uncertain.

He left the stadium limping and visibly concerned, indicating discomfort in the hamstring area. With 18 April approaching, any new muscle problem could jeopardise others, and the coaching staff will hope the break brings no further setbacks.

His recent form has been mixed, he struggled at La Cerámica but had impressed when tracking Oroz against Osasuna.
