The 21 year-old midfielder has been Celtic’s most consistent player over the festive and New Year period subsequently leading to Engels being awarded sponsored Man of the Match in the last four games at Celtic Park.

The Belgian also contributed on Sunday in Dingwall with a goal and another assist as Celtic emerged 4-1 victors over Don Cowie’s defensively solid Ross County side. During the second half, the travelling support debuted their new song, “11 million down the drain, Arne Engels scores again!”

To the tune of Shakira’s infamous ‘Waka Waka’ song which was released in 2010 for the FIFA World Cup in South Africa, Celtic supporters have managed to include Arne Engels’ name into it

‘It’s always nice to hear that appreciation’

When asked about his name being chanted by the Celtic supporters in his post-match interview in the Highlands, Engels said: “It’s unbelievable!  It’s always nice to hear that appreciation, and it’s up to me to keep this going, keep this level, and I hope they will sing it even more.”

With Celtic heading to Dens Park tonight to face Dundee, the ex-Augsburg man will be aiming to get himself on the scoresheet once again which could spark everyone’s new favourite tune.
