ONE – SATURDAY 15 MARCH 1919 – Celtic beat Albion Rovers 3-1 at Parkhead in what is called the Victory Cup. Albion Rovers are not a bad side in 1919 (in 1920 they will reach the final of the Scottish Cup) but Celtic are too good for them today with goals from Patsy Gallacher, Andy McAtee and Jimmy McColl.

TWO – SATURDAY 15 MARCH 1930 – In what is one of Celtic biggest defeats at home, they go down 0-4 to the splendid Motherwell team for whom ex-Celt John McMenemy is superb. 11,000 stand transfixed by what is going on. Already out of the Scottish Cup to St Mirren a month earlier and nowhere near Rangers in the League, the end of the season can’t come quick enough.

THREE – SATURDAY 15 MARCH 1969 – A pall of gloom still hangs over Parkhead today in the aftermath of the desperately awful defeat by AC Milan in midweek, but League business calls and Celtic have a difficult game against Partick Thistle. They win a rather pedestrian game 1-0 with a goal from John Hughes just before half time.

FOUR – SUNDAY 15 MARCH 2009 – Celtic lift the Scottish League Cup for the fourteenth time when they beat Rangers 2-0 at Hampden after extra time. Celtic are the better team throughout the ninety minutes but cannot force a winner, but then Darren O’Dea scores with a header in the first minute of extra time from a Shunsuke Nakamura free-kick before Aiden McGeady seals it with a penalty at the end. The celebrations are long and joyous. It is manager Gordon Strachan’s sixth domestic honour since 2005.

FIVE – SUNDAY 15 MARCH 2015 – Celtic lift the Scottish League Cup for the fifteenth time as they beat Dundee United 2-0 at Hampden Park. Dundee United are in the middle of an astonishing piece of asset stripping whereby they are selling men like Gary Mackay Steven and Stuart Armstrong to Celtic, although these men are Cup-tied and cannot play today. Kris Commons and James Forrest score the goals, and Forrest also insists on taking a penalty at the end and misses! It is Manager Ronny Deila’s first trophy for the club.
