It could be an extremely busy window in B9
It appears to be another extremely active transfer window as far as Birmingham City are concerned, with Chris Davies set to reshuffle his pack as his side look to restore momentum in the intense play-off race.
A 3-2 victory over league leaders Coventry City on January 4th put a timely stop to a dismal run of seven Championship games without victory for Blues, who are now just seven points behind sixth-placed Watford, albeit a cluster of sides above the West Midlands side do have games in hand, owing to several postponements due to previously baltic conditions.
The club certainly signalled their intentions in the window even prior to their recent meeting with the Sky Blues, as Kai Wagner was recruited from Philadelphia Union on a two-and-a-half year contract on January 2nd, providing Davies with much-needed quality and depth at left-back alongside Alex Cochrane.
Football League World exclusively revealed that adding further reinforcements in that particular department was viewed as a must for Blues in the lead-up to the current transfer window, and even more movement could be in the offing in terms of both incomings and outgoings.
As well as backing up said claims over reinforcements at left-back, it was then claimed by Football Insider that Birmingham would look to sign a powerful midfielder and yet another striker, having signed both Marvin Ducksch and Kyogo Furuhashi in the summer.
However, FLW now understand that as many as eight players could depart St. Andrew's between now and February 2nd, with two exits already confirmed as Emil Hansson returned to the Eredivisie with Excelsior Rotterdam, whilst Eiran Cashin saw his loan stint from Brighton and Hove Albion cut short before moving to divisional rivals, Blackburn Rovers.
With that being said, we have identified two more Blues players who COULD also leave the club as early as next week.

It may come as little surprise that the first inclusion is 48-time Scotland international striker, Lyndon Dykes.
The Australian-born Tartan Army forward has become a household name at Championship level through spells with Queens Park Rangers and Blues, even though his spell at St. Andrew's began in July 2024 ahead of the club's record-breaking season in League One.
However, he would spend the vast majority of the season playing as back-up to Jay Stansfield and Alfie May - a theme which has continued this term following the additions of Ducksch and Kyogo, although the latter is certainly at risk of becoming a major transfer mishap.
To his credit, the 30-year-old has, very rarely, let Davies down when called upon, and he has been the scorer of vital late goals this season against Blackburn Rovers and Swansea City.
Dykes was the subject of exit talk in the dying stages of the previous window, although both Preston North End and Hibernian would fail to land his signature in time.
After making just two league starts so far this season, the physical forward was then omitted from Blues' squad against Coventry after links with Charlton Athletic emerged.
FLW understand that Davies has no intention of sanctioning a departure until further reinforcements are found, whilst previously admitting that he wouldn't stand in the striker's way if the right opportunity came about, as he seeks the minutes that will guarantee a spot in Steve Clarke's World Cup squad.

FLW also revealed that a departure could be on the cards for Icelandic playmaker, Willum Willumsson.
It has been an intriguing 18 months in the Second City for the 27-year-old, having initially looked like a shrewd piece of business when Birmingham parted with £3.5m to land his services from Go Ahead Eagles.
The 18-time international managed to accumulate seven goals and nine assists in all competitions last term. However, he often came in for criticism post-January 2025, as only two of those goal contributions came in the second half of the season - both coming against Mansfield Town on April 27th.
Willumsson then initially managed to retain his spot in the starting lineup despite a raft of incomings, before enduring a 16-game absence between September and last month for unspecified reasons.
He has since returned to the fold, making three starts against Sheffield United, Southampton and Watford, although only one of those performances would be classed as solid by the onlooking Bluenoses, not helped by the club's recently dire away form.
Yet, whilst no suitors have specifically been named for the attack-minded midfielder, his immediate future has been plunged into doubt.
