Mohamed Alì Zoma’s 11th goal of the season was the difference between the teams at the break. The 22-year-old Italian is one of the best performers in 2. Bundesliga since the turn of the year, as his composed finish took his direct goal involvements to double digits during this time.
Adam Markhiev was credited with the assist as his clearance and Zoma’s movement confused Bielefeld’s defense. After the half-time whistle, the home fans whistled at their players for the poor first-half performance.
Including two by Mitch Kniat, there were three substitutions at the start of the second-half. The hosts barely improved after the break, but they did get a point as Tim Handwerker netted the equalizer ten minutes before the end.
The left-back, who was an unused sub in the last two games, scored his fourth of the season by finding a space between Luka Lochoshvili and Fabio Gruber. Miroslav Klose’s men had a great opportunity to take all three points with Rafael Lubach’s injury-time chance, but the youngster somehow failed to hit the target while facing an empty net.
Nürnberg will now have to wait at least until next week’s game against Magdeburg to hit the 40-point mark. Arminia Bielefeld will face bottom-placed Preußen Münster on matchday 31 as their quest for survival continues.
