Neil Harris has plenty of experienced players in his Millwall squad, but there are also a few youngsters who could turn out to be excellent players if their development goes well over the next few years.

The Lions have not sold many players for a significant amount of money in recent years. Alex Mitchell joined Charlton Athletic for an undisclosed fee during the current transfer window, Tyler Burey was sold to Odense BK last summer, and Isaac Olaofe was bought by Stockport County the previous season, but none of those players are likely to have commanded seven-figure fees.

George Saville's £8m move to Middlesbrough in 2019 is the Lions' record sale, while Steve Morison's departure for Norwich City in 2011 was the previous time Millwall received a seven-figure fee for one of their players.

It has been a long time since Millwall sold one of their academy graduates for a large sum, but there is one player in their current squad who could change that in the next few years.

There is no doubt that Millwall will want to make more profit from player sales during the upcoming seasons, so let's take a look at two players who could help them do that.

Romain Esse

Romain Esse made his Millwall debut in 2022, having been part of the Lions' youth set-up since 2014. The 19-year-old has established himself as part of the first team squad at The Den, and started in the defeat against Watford on the opening day of the 2024/25 Championship season.

The winger has already made over 40 appearances for Millwall in his short career so far, and looks set to play a key role this season after often featuring from the bench last term.

The England under-20 international is clearly rated highly by Harris, as shown by the fact he started the opening fixture, which should mean he is given enough opportunities to showcase his ability and improve his game in the next couple of years.

Considering the potential he has at such a young age, if he continues to develop, Millwall could be able to command a significant transfer fee for his sale in the future.

Aidomo Emakhu

Aidomo Emakhu signed for Millwall from Shamrock Rovers in the January transfer window last year, and is another young player who has managed to establish himself as part of the first team since his arrival at The Den, despite still being only 20 years old.

He came off the bench to replace Esse during the game against Watford last week, and is another winger with the ability to excite the supporters who likes to run at defenders.

Emakhu, who plays for the Republic of Ireland under-21s internationally, didn't feature much last season after the return of Harris as head coach, but after being involved on the opening day this season, it looks like he will get a chance to prove himself this time around.

Both Esse and Emakhu are talented wingers who have the potential to be important players for Millwall, especially if their end product can improve over the next couple of seasons. There is no doubt that they could both end up being sold for a significant amount of money if they fulfil their potential in the Championship with the Lions.
