According to L'Équipe, the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, due in Morocco from 17 March to three April, has been postponed by the Confederation of African Football at the Moroccan federation’s request.
The tournament had been mired in organisational uncertainty for months. It was scheduled a few months after the men’s edition ended, which Senegal won 1-0 against Morocco.
In early February, South Africa’s deputy sports minister, Peace Mabe, indicated her country would host after a supposed Moroccan withdrawal. She said South Africa had the necessary infrastructure and moved to take the opportunity when Morocco signalled they were not available to stage the event.
It now seems Morocco remains in the frame, opting for a postponement to a later date that is yet to be determined.
Neither the host nation nor CAF have issued an official comment or published a revised schedule.
