The 2026 World Cup draw is set for December 5, and Senegal could be in for a real heavyweight challenge. The list of teams qualified for the 2026 World Cup is almost complete. But FIFA won’t wait for the latecomers and will proceed with the full tournament draw on December 5. The group allocations are already in place and there’s no doubt about the fate awaiting Sadio Mané’s Senegal.
Placed in Pot 1, the Lions of Teranga could immediately face a football giant like Germany, Spain, reigning world champions Argentina, a host nation, or even France. Teams from Pot 2 will be avoided, as Senegal is among them, but the story doesn’t end there because Pot 3 is exceptionally stacked this time around. It features Haaland’s Norway, who cruised through qualifying and dispatched Italy with ease in their group. Scotland, who secured a brilliant qualification last night against Denmark, is also to be avoided, as are Egypt or Lewandowski’s Poland if they make it through the playoffs.
Pot 4 looks more manageable, as it’s mainly filled with teams that appear much weaker on paper, potentially setting up a clash with Curaçao, Uzbekistan, Cape Verde, or Haiti. But if the stars don’t align for Senegal, they could end up facing some of the world’s biggest stars: Messi, Ronaldo, Mbappé, Haaland. Pape Thiaw’s men have been warned.
