FC Barcelona are now facing a problem of plenty in the first team.
With the first-team squad extremely talented and with Hansi Flick having 2-3 options to depend on in each position, it is becoming increasingly difficult for reserve team players to break in.
One player who seems unhappy with the fact that he isn’t on the pre-season Asian tour is Jan Virgili. The young left-winger was talked about as the next big talent, but saw Pedro Fernandez picked ahead of him and has now reportedly asked to leave.

As per SPORT, Barcelona and Mallorca are in negotiations over Jan Virgili. The Catalan club is asking for €4 million for 50% of the player’s rights, but the Balearic club finds that figure unfeasible.
The most they are willing to offer is €2 million for 50% of the player’s rights. While all three parties appear aligned in terms of interest, there remains a discrepancy in valuation.
Virgili has received a lot of offers this summer, including a massive financial one from Saudi Arabia, but intends to continue his career under Jagoba Arrasate.
Mallorca and Barcelona have a strong relationship, having already done a deal for Pablo Torre earlier this summer. Thus, one can expect the two parties to arrive at some sort of middle ground.
Virgili’s story is a reminder that not every talent who impresses in the reserve team is likely to get a breakthrough at the senior level.
However, the teenager can still have an excellent career elsewhere, and let’s wait and see if he gets his Mallorca move this summer.
