Three managers Swansea City must consider following Alan Sheehan's departure
Swansea City have made the decision to part ways with Alan Sheehan following their 4-1 loss to Ipswich Town.
According to The Athletic, the 39-year-old has been dismissed as a result of the team’s disappointing form to start the season.
The Irishman was appointed earlier this year following a short but successful stint in charge as an interim coach, replacing Luke Williams at the helm.
However, he has lasted just six months into his three-year contract, with the search now underway for his permanent replacement, with the team currently 18th in the Championship table.
Here we look at three appointments Swansea must consider following the decision to sack Sheehan on Tuesday afternoon…

Brendan Rodgers is currently available following his decision to resign from his role at Celtic at the end of October.
The Northern Irishman knows Swansea well from his time at the club as manager from July 2010 to June 2012.
He guided the Swans to promotion to the Premier League in 2011, before then overseeing an impressive 11th place finish in that first top flight campaign.
While he did depart for Liverpool that summer, Swansea fans should still remember his time there fondly given his importance in establishing the team at the highest level.
The Welsh outfit now also have ambitious new owners at the helm, and one way they can prove that ambition is with a statement appointment in place of Sheehan.
If Rodgers is willing to take the step down to the second tier of English football, then he could be a real coup, and perhaps his former connection to the team could help convince him to join.

Russell Martin is another former Swansea manager that is currently on the market that might be worth considering.
While there are obvious risks with going back to a familiar face, Martin’s time with the club went relatively okay for a finish, with his side in the mix for a play-off place by the time he moved to Southampton.
He would also bring back the passing identity to the team that supporters criticised Sheehan for abandoning.
Martin has proven himself at this level before having earned promotion to the Premier League with the Saints.
The 39-year-old’s reputation has taken a bit of a hit in the last 12 months, particularly due to his underwhelming stint in Scotland, but that could just make him open to a return to the Swans.

Michael Carrick is available following his exit from Middlesbrough in the summer, and he could prove a shrewd appointment.
Despite failing to gain promotion at the Riverside, he maintained a competitive level at Boro even with key players regularly being sold any time they started to gain some momentum.
If Swansea can offer some stability, and greater ambition in the transfer market then he could provide the identity to the team that supporters crave.
Carrick knows how to compete at this level, and should be able to steady the ship and turn the team’s form around in the immediate-term, amid the threat of a relegation battle under their current form.
