Inter Miami already has a very strong roster to defend its MLS Cup title. Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Rodrigo De Paul, and Sergio Reguilón are the club's three biggest names. The Herons did lose Jordi Albia and Sergio Busquets, who retired at the end of the last campaign. However, they are already being linked with the likes of Casemiro, Bernardo Silva, and Keylor Navas.
If Miami is to continue signing star players, then it could lead to many less well-known players being surplus to requirements. The side that Sir David Beckham co-owns will be ruthless in ensuring more success. Here are five Herons players who could soon be on their way out of the club.
Tadeo Allende helped Miami win MLS Cup and the Eastern Conference last season. He also won the Golden Boot for the playoffs, where he scored nine goals in six matches. This included a hat-trick against New York City FC in the semi-finals and a goal against the Vancouver Whitecaps in the final.
Allende joined Miami permanently from Celta Vigo in January, as last season he was only on loan. However, he is yet to score in five MLS games this season. He missed Miami's match with the New York Red Bulls due to injury and was then left on the bench against the Colorado Rapids.
The winger was a very good player in Argentina with Instituto and Godoy Cruz before moving to Europe with Celta. With the move to the La Liga side not working out, it is unlikely that another European team would be interested in him. However, a move back to South America or to another MLS team could be on the cards.
Rocco Ríos Novo was another hero of Miami's MLS Cup victory last year. He arrived at the club on loan from Lanus, and the goalkeeper took the number one spot after Benjamin Cremaschi got injured.
Rios Novo played in 10 MLS regular-season games and all six of Miami's playoff matches last season. This led to the Herons signing him permanently. However, he has played in just one MLS game this campaign, with Dayne St. Clair being the club's new number one.
There are rumors that Keylor Navas could be arriving at the club from Pumas UNAM. The former Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, and Nottingham Forest player would push Ríos Novo further down the pecking order. Therefore, the keeper could be sent packing.
Rios Novo is so experienced when it comes to soccer in the United States. He has previously also played for Atlanta United and won the USL Championship with Phoenix Rising. Therefore, another American team would likely snap him up.
He was at Lanus, but did not play a senior game; therefore, it would be unlikely that a move back to Argentina could be on the cards.
Gonzalo Luján is predominantly a center-back, but he has started just two games in his favored position this season. Otherwise, he has been used as a substitute, and in Miami's recent win over the Colorado Rapids, he played at right-back.
Lujan also helped the Herons win MLS Cup last year, where he was occasionally used as a sub or at right-back. When it came to the playoffs, he was left on the bench mostly. He made just two substitute appearances, which came in the first round and the quarter-finals.
He only joined the Herons last year after playing for San Lorenzo. Another MLS team or a club back in Argentina might want to take a chance on Lujan.
