3 Real Madrid stars finished Atlético clash with injury problems | OneFootball

No fewer than three members of Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid squad departed Sunday’s derby with fitness issues.

That’s according to The Athletic, who point towards Thibaut Courtois, Fran García and Rodrygo as the trio in question.

Shot-stopper Courtois suffered an adductor problem, defender Fran an ankle concern, and frontman Rodrygo a tweak in his lower back.

All three, in turn, were subjected to medical tests on Monday.

And the results confirmed the following:

Fran and Rodrygo are considered fine, given the green light to train alongside the rest of Carlo Ancelotti’s squad this morning as a result.

Courtois, though, is injured, facing up to an incoming spell on the sidelines.

It remains to be seen just how long Real Madrid’s no.1 is ruled out for, but it is considered unlikely that the one-time Atlético man will return this side of the international break.

Backup Andriy Lunin, as a result, is set to be afforded a fresh chance to impress over the coming week.
