Five spicy fixtures you must watch this weekend:

Sporting vs Benfica

The Derby de Lisboa takes place this weekend as Sporting battle Benfica in the Portuguese capital. Sporting have not lost in the Primeira Liga since August but, somehow, still sit second. Porto boast a five-point lead over the capital club, though the champions do have a game in hand.

It goes without saying then, that Sporting cannot stutter here. Benfica, only two points behind their arch-rivals, will want to dent their title dream.

Kick-off: 6pm BST, Sunday 19th April

Where to watch: Primeira Liga fixtures can be watched via DAZN in the UK.

Atletico Madrid vs Real Sociedad

Atletico Madrid and Real Sociedad contest the Copa del Rey final at Estadio de La Cartuja on Saturday night. Atleti enter the Spanish Cup decider in high spirits after beating Barcelona over two legs to reach the Champions League semi-finals. Having also thrashed the Catalans in this competition, Diego Simeone’s side will start as favourites. For Simeone, it’s a chance to end a five-year trophy drought and prove he’s still the right man to lead the Rojiblancos.

Sociedad have their sights set on a fourth Copa del Rey triumph and only a second in almost 40 years.

Kick-off: 8pm BST, Saturday 18th April

Where to watch: ITV4, ITVX and Premier Player.

Chelsea vs Manchester United

Chelsea and Manchester United meet in the Premier League this weekend with the home side clinging on to their Champions League hopes. The Blues have been beaten in three consecutive Premier League games to fall four points adrift of the top five.

Manchester United will aim to bounce back from a shock setback at home to Leeds, with their motivation clear. A win in West London would put them 10 points clear of Chelsea, a seemingly insurmountable gap.

Kick-off: 8pm, Saturday 18th April

Where to watch: TNT Sports 1, TNT Sports Ultimate, HBO Max in the UK

Everton vs Liverpool

It’s a historic Merseyside Derby this weekend with the first-ever clash between Everton and Liverpool at Hill Dickinson Stadium. This one has more riding on it than most, with the Liverpudlian neighbours both in the race for Europe.

After several seasons treading water, Everton are on the up and will smell blood against a Liverpool team reeling from four defeats in five. Expect an electric atmosphere.

Kick-off: 2pm BST, Sunday 19th April

Where to watch: Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Ultra HDR.

Manchester City vs Arsenal

Do not miss this one.

The Premier League title race pendulum could potentially be swung irreversibly this weekend. Arsenal lead the table by six points, but a mini-wobble has allowed Manchester City to close in.

The Citizens have a game in hand, and can blow open the title race with a win at the Etihad. Pep Guardiola’s side have clicked into gear at the right time, thrashing Liverpool and Chelsea in recent weeks.

Can Arsenal, without a title in 22 years, hold their nerve? This is the sort of fixture that makes champions.

Kick-off: 4:30pm, Monday 13th April

Where to watch: Sky Sports Main Event, Sky Sports Premier League and Sky Sports Ultra HDR.
