A former Barcelona fan favourite was in attendance at Super Cup semi-final win over Athletic Club | OneFootball

A one-time member of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona was spotted in attendance at the club’s meeting with Athletic Club on Wednesday.

Hansi Flick’s troops were of course back in action last night, making the trip to Saudi Arabia for a Spanish Super Cup semi-final showdown with Athletic Club.

When all was said and done, Barca emerged on the right side of the result, courtesy of goals on the part of Gavi and Lamine Yamal.

A Super Cup showpiece meeting with one of Real Madrid and Mallorca now awaits the Blaugrana this weekend.

And, as alluded to above, watching on as his former club got the job done on Wednesday was a recent member of the midfield ranks at the Camp Nou.

The player in question? Franck Kessié.

Ivorian international Kessié of course spent a solitary season on the books of Barcelona, back in 2022/23.

And, during this time, the 28-year-old went on to establish himself as something of a fan favourite.
