Pep Guardiola revealed today that Manuel Akanji and Phil Foden are back in training ahead of Manchester City’s Premier League clash with Everton. That is good news for Manchester City. However, that news was offset by the revelation that Ederson faces a spell on the sidelines. Ederson’s return from injury remains unknown at this stage. Outside of those three players Rodri, Erling Haaland, John Stones and Nathan Ake remain sidelined due to injury.

Today Pep Guardiola has revealed that Haaland, Stones and Ake are progressing in their return from injury. Although Guardiola did caution that none of Haaland, Ake or Stones will be back on the pitch anytime soon. The Manchester City manager was asked about Haaland’s condition during his pre-game press conference today. He told the media that Haaland won’t be ready for his team’s upcoming games. Speaking on Haaland’s condition Guardiola said: “He’s not training either. The next games he won’t be ready.

Guardiola was also asked if John Stones or Nathan Ake’s returns were imminent. He said they were getting better but neither player was close to a return: “Not yet. Getting better but not yet.

It wasn’t expected that any of Erling Haaland, Nathan Ake or John Stones would be back on the pitch in the near future. The trio are expected to be out for a few more weeks yet. But Guardiola’s update, in the case of Ake and Stones especially, is good news for Manchester City. Both players have been out for some time. Ake had surgery on a troublesome foot injury. He was expected to be out for 11 weeks. John Stones suffered a thigh injury as per a report from the Standard which would rule him out for 8-10 weeks the Standard further reports.

For now, Erling Haaland, John Stones and Nathan Ake all remain sidelined. But there is hope that all could return before the end of the season based on Pep Guardiola’s update today.
