Aasgaard strike lifts Rangers into third

Rangers beat Motherwell 1-0 at Ibrox as Thelo Aasgaard struck after the break, lifting the hosts from fourth to third in the Scottish Premiership and nudging the visitors down to fourth.
Jack Butland kept Rangers level early on, saving from Lukas Fadinger and Callum Hendry as Motherwell carried the first half threat.
In the 67th minute, Aasgaard guided a left footed finish from the left side of the six-yard box into the centre of the net.
Calum Ward repeatedly denied the hosts, making 12 saves. Butland made five at the other end.
Substitute Mikey Moore injected pace and forced Ward into a save soon after coming on, while Bojan Miovski later saw efforts blocked.
Esapa Osong's close-range header was saved by Butland (88.).
Rangers registered 28 attempts, 13 on target.
Next, Rangers host St Mirren. Motherwell host Celtic.
