Abel Ferreira returned to work on Wednesday morning as Palmeiras intensified preparations for the season restart, with Marlon Freitas and Agustín Giay back in the group.

According to Nosso Palestra, the midfielder had been excused from earlier sessions for family reasons, while the Argentina right-back rejoined after time with the national team during World Cup preparations.

Before taking to the pitch, both underwent medical and physical assessments with the club’s Núcleo de Saúde e Performance. On the grass, Ferreira and his staff drilled set-piece organisation, in attack and defence, fine-tuning details for the run-in.

In the afternoon at 15h, Palmeiras face Mauaense in their first training match of the break at the Academia de Futebol. TV Palmeiras Sportingbet will show it live, with coverage from 14h.

After the morning session, players stayed at the club’s excellence centre for lunch and rest ahead of the later workout.

The next competitive game is on 23 July, away to Coritiba at 21h30 at Estádio Couto Pereira, in the 19th round of the Campeonato Brasileiro. Palmeiras, the reigning Paulista champions, top the league on 41 points and remain in the last 16 of the CONMEBOL Libertadores and the Copa do Brasil.
