Relegated to the regional divisions after severe financial difficulties, AC Ajaccio’s crisis deepened this week as the Corsican club issued a strongly-worded communiqué regarding their ongoing legal battle with former forward Youcef Belaïli.On Friday, the club addressed a letter directly to FIFA president Gianni Infantino, denouncing what they describe as a “fraudulent” process that has left them facing sporting sanctions and financial ruin.

“The only alternative your services propose is as follows: either we pay the €380,000 — the amount of the fraud of which we are the victims — or our centenary club disappears. Is this the justice of world football?” read part of Ajaccio’s statement addressed to Infantino. The Corsican side remain excluded from all national competitions by the DNCG for the 2025/26 season. They have filed a criminal complaint for forgery, use of forgery and fraud with the public prosecutor in Ajaccio, while also demanding the immediate lifting of their FIFA transfer ban. They are currently playing at the amateur Régional level in Corsica. Ajaccio, who parted ways with Belaïli after a turbulent spell during the 2022/23 campaign, insist they are the victims of “an organised fraud” that has been “entérinée” by football’s global governing body.GFFN | George Boxall
