AC Milan have revived their pursuit of Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface (h/t journalist Sacha Tavolieri).
Having received the green light from the Nigerian striker, the Rossoneri are trying to reach an agreement with the Bundesliga club.
Noah Okafor’s imminent transfer to Leeds United further depletes the centre-forward options and leaves Milan with Santiago Gimenez as the only reliable number nine.
Boniface has made a significant impact at Leverkusen since his move from Union Saint-Gilloise in 2023.
He tallied 21 goals and 10 assists in his debut season to help Die Werkself clinch the Bundesliga title ahead of Bayern Munich..
Boniface struggled with injuries last season, but still bagged eight goals in 18 league games.
Doubts have emerged over his place as new manager Erik ten Hag reportedly prefers Patrik Schick and Christian Kofane above the Nigerian.
His €50 million valuation could be a sticking point, but Milan will look to negotiate the fee given the player’s desire to join them.
They are due to receive €20m from Okafor’s sale, which will aid them in signing a new centre-forward.
Milan are also working on a deal to sign Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund, but face tough competition from Napoli.
Manager Massimiliano Allegri has strengthened the squad with the additions of Samuele Ricci, Luka Modric, Ardon Jashari, Pervis Estupinan, Koni De Winter and Zachary Athekamy this summer.
The Rossoneri will kick off their Serie A campaign against Cremonese this weekend.
