  1. Date: Sunday, 8th March.
  2. Kick-off: 7:45pm BST.
  3. Venue: San Siro, Milan.

AC Milan team news

AC Milan head into the latest Derby with a few key selection issues but also some positive developments. The biggest confirmed absence for the Rossoneri is defender Matteo Gabbia, who recently underwent surgery for a hernia and is expected to be sidelined for several weeks.

However, there is some good news with Davide Bartesaghi returning to training with the main squad, meaning he could be available for selection.

Santiago Gimenez is also sidelined until late March due to his ankle injury. Christopher Nkunku is another option up front if Allegri decides to drop Pulisic and use him later in the match.

Inter Milan team news

The most significant setback is the absence of captain and leading striker Lautaro Martínez, who has been ruled out due to a calf injury.

There is also uncertainty surrounding the fitness of forward Marcus Thuram, who has reportedly been dealing with illness in the days leading up to the game. While he may still feature, his physical condition will likely be assessed close to kickoff.

Francesco Pio Esposito is expected to be given an opportunity and could start in attack.

In midfield, there are tactical considerations as well, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan potentially stepping in for Hakan Calhanoglu if the Turkish midfielder is not fully fit.

Inter will still depend on key figures such as Nicolo Barella and wing-backs like Federico Dimarco to provide energy and creativity. Also back in contention is Denzel Dumfries, but his involvement will depend on his current fitness though he has been involved in full training sessions.

Form

AC Milan

AC Milan have shown relatively steady form in recent matches. In their latest Serie A game, they defeated Cremonese 2–0 away from home, continuing a run of positive results. Over their last five matches in all competitions, Milan have won three, drawn once, and lost once, scoring eight goals and conceding three.

However, several draws earlier in the season slowed their progress in the title race, leaving them behind their city rivals in the standings.

Inter Milan

Inter dropped only two points across their last fifteen league matches, demonstrating sustained performance over a long stretch of the season.

Recently, however, they were held to a 0–0 draw by Como in the first leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final, where the team struggled to create clear chances and did not register a shot on target.

Predicted lineups

AC Milan: Maignan; Tomori, De Winter, Pavlovic; Saelemaekers, Fofana, Modric, Rabiot, Bartesaghi; Pulisic, Leao.

Inter Milan: Sommer; Bisseck, Akanji, Bastoni; Henrique, Barella, Calhanoglu, Zielinski, Dimarco; Thuram, Esposito.
