Michael Olise and Jamal Musiala were not only the talk of the town after Bayern’s win in Mainz, but one scene off the pitch in particular made the fans smile.
After the spectacular 4:3 win at 1. FSV Mainz 05, the Bayern stars drew attention to themselves in a completely different way. Jamal Musiala was seen on TV apparently trying to take a selfie with Michael Olise, with the Frenchman looking down at the ground and showing his middle finger.
The scene fits in with the image Olise has long since built up in Munich. Since his move to FC Bayern, the attacking player has been regarded by many fans as „Mr Nonchalant“. The 24-year-old regularly delivers strong actions on the pitch, off it he often appears so relaxed that his coolness has almost become a trademark.
Olise also played a big part in Munich’s comeback in Mainz. After a completely botched first half, FC Bayern were already 3-0 down before Vincent Kompany reacted at the break and brought on Olise, among others. Musiala also came into the game a little later: the 22-year-old replaced Raphaël Guerreiro in the 57th minute. Together, the two of them noticeably revitalised Munich’s attacking play.
The Frenchman finally got Bayern back into the game in the 73rd minute. Olise cut inside from the right and flicked the ball into the far corner with a left-footed finish. A short time later, he also made a crucial cross for Musiala to make it 3:3, before Harry Kane scored the 4:3 winner in the closing stages.
For Musiala and Olise, it was a successful afternoon with a special echo. First, they both helped to turn around a game that was almost lost, and then they caused a few smiles among the Bayern fans with their selfie moment.
