FC Bayern narrowly but deservedly beat Real Madrid 4-3 to reach the semi-finals of the Champions League. Bayern coach Vincent Kompany was proud after the game, but also exhausted from the dramatic evening
FC Bayern’s 4:3 win in the quarter-final second leg against Real Madrid not only set the pulses of FC Bayern fans racing, but coach Vincent Kompany was also visibly exhausted after the game, as he revealed in an interview with DAZN
When asked how he would celebrate the dramatic victory tonight, he simply replied: „You just celebrate in bed. I want to sleep. That’s enough.“ Nevertheless: „Maybe a beer or glass of red wine“ was something he didn’t want to miss out on today
However, he wanted to hold off on celebrating for the time being, because after all, they are still in all three competitions. What’s more, Munich could possibly become German champions on Sunday – so the focus is on regeneration
As he did at the pre-match press conference, Kompany wanted to curb the hype surrounding his Bayern team – both internally and externally. For him, the possible upcoming championship title brings „a mixture of emotions“. However, if Munich were to beat VfB Stuttgart, they would still need the support of TSG Hoffenheim, because if they were to draw against their rivals from Dortmund, a point against VfB would be enough for Munich to win the title
Kompany also wanted to „win against a strong Stuttgart, but if we manage that, then of course you have to turn the knob again very quickly, because then it’s the semi-final against Leverkusen.“
He was of the opinion that „it will take the same energy again“ as today against Real Madrid, but one thing is certain: if Bayern also beat Stuttgart and Leverkusen, they would take a big step towards the treble.
