RS Berkane have appointed Bubista, Cape Verde’s head coach, as their new manager, the club said in a statement on Tuesday.

The 56-year-old is expected to step down from the Cape Verde job in the coming days. His appointment followed lengthy talks in which a dual role had been considered.

Bubista’s reputation was enhanced by Cape Verde’s impressive World Cup run, which ended with a 2-3 defeat after extra time to eventual finalists Argentina in the round of 32.

RS Berkane did not disclose contract details.

The club won the Moroccan championship in 2025 and finished runners-up this year. They reached the semi-finals of the African Champions League last season and will again compete in the competition this season.
