Leeds United’s centre-back hunt has swung back to Serie A after a failed move for Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki. According to Parma Live, they have now set their sights on Argentine defender Mariano Troilo.

Leeds had been heavily linked with Suzuki, yet their £18.75m approach was knocked back, and the deal collapsed. The setback has not ended interest in Parma players.

Troilo, aged 23, is viewed as a highly rated prospect. Fulham are said to have lodged a £17m bid, which Parma rejected, believing his value to be higher.

Leeds have now joined a competitive English chase for the centre-back alongside Fulham, Brentford and Sunderland. Securing him would take a sizeable outlay and firm backing at board level.

Daniel Farke’s side have been seeking a defender to rebalance the back four after Pascal Struijk’s move to Brighton & Hove Albion. While they want a left-footed option, with Real Betis’ Natan and Juventus’ Lloyd Kelly linked, Troilo is ambidextrous and seen as a high-ceiling investment.

He offers recovery pace, progressive passing and aerial presence that could fit Farke’s pressing approach. If Leeds can better Fulham’s rejected millions, it would be a statement, and missing out on Suzuki might yet aid a move for Parma’s prize asset.
