Dinamo Zagreb winger Moris Valincic has emerged as one of several potential candidates to replace Denzel Dumfries at Inter Milan.

Speaking to Sportske Novosti via FCInterNews, Valincic’s agent, Adrian Aliaj, confirmed Inter’s interest in his client.

Denzel Dumfries underwent ankle surgery on Tuesday and could remain on the sidelines until the beginning of March.

With Luis Henrique unable to rediscover his Marseille form, Cristian Chivu is desperate to add to his wingback options.

Therefore, Inter Milan are frantically searching for a new reliable right-winger to replace the Dutch talisman.

Several names have popped up, including Moris Valincic.

Indeed, the 23-year-old, who swapped Istra 1961 for Dinamo Zagreb in the summer, has drawn Beppe Marotta’s attention.

However, the San Siro heavyweights are assessing other options, including Brooke Norton-Cuffy and Marco Palestra.

Furthermore, Inter are not the only Italian side interested in Valincic, who’s currently on the sidelines with an ankle sprain.

“Inter, Milan, Lazio, and especially Napoli are interested in Moris, but none of them has made an offer yet,” Valincic’s agent said.

“Two clubs said about a month and a half ago that they wanted to close the deal in the winter and leave him at Dinamo until the summer.

“The same happened with Petar Sucic last year.

“However, the injury slowed things down, and they stopped halfway.

“At the moment, I think a winter transfer is not an option. He needs to come back, and objectively, it’s right for that to happen in the summer.

“It’s not realistic for Valinčić to replace Denzel Dumfries in January if he were to be sidelined for a longer period due to injury, because Moris also needs more time.

“I wouldn’t want to force things. If Inter really want someone this winter, Moris included, it will cost them a lot.

“The player is ready to stay at Dinamo until the summer and then move to Italy.

“I’ve been in contact with several Serie A clubs.”

“As for Dumfries, the Dutchman will most likely not renew his contract with Inter,” he added.

“In all this, it’s very important that Petar Sučić left a great impression; with his performances at that club, he opened the door for Dinamo players.

“That’s why they’ve been tracking Valinčić for a long time. So yes, there is interest, the player is liked, but the decision is still a long way off.

“It’s too early to say which of the clubs mentioned above will finalize the transfer in the end.

“Serie A is definitely our goal, both for me and for Valinčić.”

Then, he also discussed the Croatian star’s price tag.

“The transfer fee will be whatever someone is willing to offer, and if you ask me, in principle, Moris’ price is around €16–18 million.

“I believe we can reach those figures. He could become the most expensive right-back ever to leave Croatia.

“However, many factors determine the price. It’s constantly evolving and can change easily.

“It depends on how Moris returns after the injury, how Dinamo perform, and in the end, there’s always something to negotiate.”
