Liam Rosenior has today been confirmed as Chelsea’s new manager, although he won’t take charge of the game tomorrow. Instead he has rather sensibly left that job to Calum McFarlane.
The Under 21s coach took the press conference today, and was asked about what he thought Rosenior would bring to Chelsea.

Liam Rosenior coaches alongside Wayne Rooney at Derby County.
“I really enjoy watching his sides, like I did with Hull as well. Aggressive, front foot football, really good on the ball – I’m really excited for what he is going to do at this club,” McFarlane said of his impending successor.
“This is a really talented group. Young, hungry and can play against the top, top sides. This team has massive, massive potential. We should be excited.”
Let’s hope that Rosenior does indeed bring some high-octane football back to Stamford Bridge. Maresca’s style was too slow for the tastes of many fans, and an injection of fresh energy is an easy way to sell them on the new man.
McFarlane was also asked whether he was pleased to see a young British coach getting a top Premier League job – something of a rarity these days.
“I’m sure all young English coaches from an academy background, regardless of who you support, will be rooting for Liam. We all hope he does really well.”
We sure do, Calum. It’s a risky appointment without doubt, but one that has plenty of upside.
Enzo Maresca has today dropped his first statement since leaving Chelsea, thanking players and fans and claiming to have returned the club to where it deserves to be.
Fans of Strasbourg are not happy about the move of their manager to Chelsea mid-season, and a furious statement shows how broken the relationship is.
