ChatGPT predicts the next 5 seasons for Wrexham AFC.
Wrexham AFC have a seriously exciting future on the horizon, as promotion to the Championship could be secured in the next few weeks.
The Red Dragons have the chance to make history, becoming the first EFL team to secure back-to-back-to-back promotions, which would see them join Birmingham City in the second tier next season.
It's certainly an exciting time to be a Wrexham supporter, as not many people envisioned the club being right at the top of the table in their first season in League One. However, the likes of Wycombe Wanderers, Stockport County, and Charlton Athletic will be keen to snatch the final promotion spot away from them.
The current trajectory of the club is looking really good, with Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney investing sensibly to give their side the best possible future on and off the pitch.
With that in mind, Football League World asked the ChatGPT AI to predict where the Welsh club will be in five years. It's fair to say if this prediction comes true, Wrexham fans are in for an even more remarkable five years.
Of course, the first thing we asked to be included in the prediction is whether Wrexham will get promotion over the line in 2024-25. ChatGPT believes the Red Dragons will hold off Wycombe to secure automatic promotion to the Championship.
This will be the last time they play League One football in the next five years, as they consolidate in the second tier with a few solid mid-table finishes. Avoiding the drop in their first season will be key, and ChatGPT expects them to do so comfortably.
Simon Jordan recently claimed on TalkSport that he believes Wrexham could be a Premier League side in the "next two or three years." The programme does also believe this claim, but thinks it could take a little bit longer than the timeframe that Jordan laid out. After being defeated in the play-offs in their third Championship season, the AI predicts them to go one better the following year.
Jordan's prediction of Wrexham becoming a top flight side is predicted to come true in the 2029-30 season, as ChatGPT concluded that Red Dragons will make their Premier League debut in five years time, after slowly building to become an established Championship powerhouse.
If the Welsh side is promoted, it will undoubtedly be the biggest step the club will have to make on their journey so far. The financial capabilities of the recently-relegated Premier League sides, coupled with the strength of the established Championship sides will make it a struggle for Wrexham.
Nobody really expected the Red Dragons to be where they are this season before a ball was kicked, but Phil Parkinson's leadership coupled with smart transfer business has allowed them to compete right at the top of League One this term.
The Hollywood owners will once again put their hands in their pockets if they gain promotion, giving the manager a strong budget to bring in the players that he believes can help the club survive in the Championship. The project in North Wales will be a very attractive one to some excellent players, as we've already seen in recent years.
Whilst it will take some time to adapt to the new league, it's hard to see a world where Wrexham don't attract some big names to the club who are able to keep them up. A clearout of some of the out-of-favour players will free up space in the squad for Parkinson to work with.
Already, names such as Tom Lawrence and Jamie Vardy have been linked, as it seems the Red Dragons will undoubtedly be able to attract the calibre of players required to keep them up.
