Ajax interested in reuniting with Christian Eriksen | OneFootball

According to Bild, Ajax are one of the clubs interested in signing Christian Eriksen this summer. The Danish international is set to leave German club Wolfsburg after they were relegated from the Bundesliga. The former Manchester United midfielder has a contract with the club until 2027, but it is unlikely they or him will want to continue in the second tier of German football.

The 24-year-old joined the side from Manchester United at the start of the season and played 34 games, scoring three goals and providing nine assists. Given that he started 27 of the 31 games he played in the Bundesliga, Ajax will see a reunion as not just a sentimental signing but one that could help the club next season.

Eriksen played for Ajax between 2009 and 2013, scoring 32 goals in 162 games. His time at Ajax earned him a move to the Premier League and Tottenham, where he played 305 games in a six year period, scoring 69 goals. In the winter window of the 2019/2020 season he left to join Serie A side Inter. Eriksen spent a year and half in Italy before returning to the Premier League with Brentford.

After his collapse during the Euro 2020 championships, Eriksen showed that he had fully recovered while playing half a season with Brentford. Manchester United signed him in the summer of 2022, and Eriksen went on to play over 100 games for the club before leaving on a free last summer.
