For his 100th appearance in Al-Ahli Saudi colors, Edouard Mendy kept a clean sheet. This came during his team's away win at Damac (0-1) on Monday, in a rescheduled fixture from matchday 10 of the Saudi Pro League.
What better way to celebrate his centenary appearance for Al-Ahli Saudi? The Senegal international goalkeeper kept his goal untouched, and his team provisionally moved to the top of the standings, one point ahead of Al-Nassr and two ahead of Al-Hilal, both of whom have played one game less.
This marks the tenth clean sheet of the season for the Africa Cup of Nations winner, outshining the likes of Yassine Bounou (Al-Hilal), Koen Casteels (Al-Qadsiyah), Marek Rodak (Al-Ettifaq), and Bento (Al-Nassr), each with 7 clean sheets.
Against Damac, the former Chelsea shot-stopper was put to the test several times, even conceding two goals that were ultimately disallowed by VAR.
Across 100 matches with the Jeddah-based club, which also features Franck Kessié and Riyad Mahrez, Mendy boasts an outstanding record of 45 clean sheets, while conceding 97 goals.
