Jadon Sancho could be set for an unexpected move to Qatar after Al-Rayyan submitted an offer to sign him, according to Foot Mercato.
The England international has been without a club since his Manchester United contract expired on July 1, leaving him free to negotiate with interested sides.
Al-Rayyan are hoping to take advantage of that situation by persuading the 26-year-old to begin the next chapter of his career in the Middle East.
Sancho has also attracted interest from Atletico Madrid, while a return to Borussia Dortmund has previously been discussed following his successful spells in Germany.
The Qatari outfit believe they have a genuine opportunity to secure one of the most recognisable free agents currently available.
Sancho’s career has taken a dramatic turn since his blockbuster £73 million move to United in 2021.
After establishing himself as one of Europe’s brightest talents at BVB, where he bagged 54 goals and 45 assists in 188 appearances, expectations were sky-high when he returned to England.
However, he struggled to replicate that form in the Premier League.
Loan moves followed, including a return to Dortmund and another stint at Chelsea, but neither led to a permanent solution.
A move to Al-Rayyan would offer Sancho a fresh start and the chance to become one of the Qatar Stars League’s marquee names.
However, he reportedly wants to stay in Europe, even if it means accepting a lower salary to join an elite club.
