Alanna Kennedy is set to leave Manchester City on a permanent deal, subject to international clearance.
The Australia international made 64 appearances in all competitions for the Club after joining from Tottenham Hotspur in August 2021.
Featuring 22 times in her debut season for City, Kennedy started in both the League and FA Cup final for the Blues.
We faced Chelsea on both occasions, losing out in extra time in the FA Cup final at Wembley, but beat Emma Hayes’ side 3-1 in the League Cup in March 2022.
She would also grab her first goal at the end of that campaign in a 6-0 win over Birmingham City in our final home match of 2021/22.
The defender’s second full season at City was limited by a shoulder injury, but she continued to be an important figure for Gareth Taylor’s new look side.
Indeed, Kennedy’s performances would see her sign a new contract in May 2023, committing her future to the Club for a further two seasons.
The Australia international once again played a central role in an exciting 2023/24 campaign as City matched our best-ever WSL points tally and broke the record for the longest single season winning run.
Kennedy’s performance in both WSL Manchester derbies particularly stood out, with the Blues twice running out 3-1 winners and the defender even grabbing an assist at the Etihad Stadium.
This season, the defender featured 15 times in 18 matches up to the new year, adding another goal to her tally with a stunning strike away to St Polten in the UEFA Women’s Champions League.
But now the 30-year-old starts a new chapter in her career.
Everyone at Manchester City would like to thank Alanna for her contributions and wish her the very best in the future.
