Alejandro Garnacho: Chelsea on brink of finalising deal for Man United star | OneFootball

Chelsea are reportedly on the verge of completing a transfer for Alejandro Garnacho at a much lower sum than Manchester United were demanding.

Garnacho’s time at United is up

Garnacho did not travel with the team to pre-season and has yet to feature for United this season, following his public falling out with Ruben Amorim.

The pair’s relationship irreparably broke down immediately after United’s 1-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final. The Argentine slammed the manager’s decision to leave him on the bench while also casting doubts over his own future.

Amorim responded by informing the player to find a new club. Garnacho has been hellbent on joining Chelsea and it appears he will get his wish.

A report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Chelsea and United were in advanced talks to seal a deal.

More recently, it emerged that there is a broad agreement in place between the two clubs worth around £50m, including add-ons. Initially, the Red Devils wanted £70m for Garnacho but they were forced to slash their asking price after it became clear he has no future at Old Trafford.

Now, a new update has claimed that United could receive a sum of £40m for the forward, with a full agreement within touching distance.

Garnacho one step away from joining Chelsea

According to Sam Wallace of The Telegraph, “Manchester United and Chelsea are close to agreeing terms Alejandro Garnacho in a deal worth up to £40m.”

He notes about Garnacho’s fee, “The 21-year-old has no future under Ruben Amorim which has given negotiations a different dynamic but there is also a realisation that Chelsea are acquiring Premier League-proven young talent. The price reflects that, given United started by benchmarking his value against the £50m that Arsenal paid Chelsea for the England international Noni Madueke.”

While Chelsea have already conducted background checks on Garnacho’s character, it’s understood that performances will ultimately dictate whether or not he’ll be a successful acquisition.

But, Chelsea are not worried as they’re aware he has resale value and they will almost certainly experience no difficulties if they decide to eventually offload him.

Fabrizio Romano has corroborated the news that Garnacho to Chelsea is close, writing on X, “Chelsea and Man United, locked in talks for Alejandro Garnacho’s transfer.”

“Chelsea confirmed their proposal worth £35/40m as total package, waiting for Man United’s green light. The deal will happen, just matter of time… as Garnacho only wants Chelsea.”

“Here we go, soon.”

It remains to be seen whether there is time for United to reinvest this money towards signing a goalkeeper and potentially a midfielder.
