Alex Santana reached five months without a competitive appearance on Wednesday, and remains outside Corinthians' first-team plans.

According to Globo.com, the 30-year-old's last outing came on 4 October 2025 for Grêmio against Red Bull Bragantino in Porto Alegre in the Campeonato Brasileiro. He then sustained a right leg muscle injury and his loan expired.

He reported back to Corinthians on 6 January and was told early in the campaign he was not in Dorival Júnior's plans. He has since trained at alternative times at CT Joaquim Grava and still hopes to turn things around.

The midfielder has received enquiries and offers from Brazilian clubs in recent weeks, yet talks did not progress. For players who did not appear in 2026 state competitions, the next window opens on 20 July.

Signed in 2024, he lost ground last year and moved to Grêmio on loan until December. He made 10 appearances there without standing out, and with the option to buy not taken he returned to Corinthians.

The subsequent decision not to use him surprised the player. Dorival Júnior currently has Raniele, Allan, André, Breno Bidon, Charles, Matheus Pereira and André Carrillo for the position. Alex Santana's deal with Timão runs until 31 December 2027.
