Alexander Isak goes public with first interview after joining Liverpool from Newcastle United | OneFootball

A week after the deal was concluded, Alexander Isak has spoken for the first time about his move from Newcastle United to Liverpool.

Isak having eventually moved in a £130m deal on deadline day, last Monday (1 September 2025).

Alexander Isak had refused to do any media duties ahead of either of Sweden’s September internationals.

However, that changed last night.

Alexander Isak speaking to Swedish media after playing the final 20 minutes of Sweden’s 2-0 defeat to Kosovo.

Aftonbladet reporting on Alexander Isak quotes after the Sweden striker spoke on Monday night – 8 September 2025:

“It’s nice that things were sorted (move from Newcastle to Liverpool) out before the meeting (Sweden’s internationals) and that I could focus on playing football again.

“It has been a fairly new situation (the issues surrounding his transfer) for me but you always learn and develop mentally off the field as well.

“It’s clear that not everyone has the whole picture.

“But that’s something for another day.

“Right now, the disappointment lies in this match (Kosovo 2 Sweden 0) and how it went.

“But at the same time, I have a positive feeling about the club team part that is coming.

“That (what went on during Isak’s dispute with Newcastle United) part of football.

“I can’t control everything that is said or written.

“But I’m happy that I became a Liverpool player.

“That is what I wanted and I’m happy about that.”

Alexander Isak asked if he has any regrets about what happened this summer:

“There is a lot to discuss…

“It has been educational and I am happy with the final result.

“I am happy and proud to be a Liverpool player.”
