Manchester United got back to winning ways with a comfortable 2-0 win over Sunderland in Ruben Amorim’s 50th game in charge.
The head coach desperately needed a positive result and was handed one thanks to first-half goals from Mason Mount and Benjamin Sesko.
The towering Slovenian made it two goals in two games and seems to have found his shooting boots after some time spent getting used to the frenetic pace of English football.
Sesko scored with his only shot on target, stabbing home after a long throw was flicked on to double the Red Devils’ advantage after 31 minutes.
The 22-year-old also contributed two key passes, bettered only by Amad and Bruno Fernandes who each made three, and was accurate with the one long ball he attempted.
That wasn’t so much the case overall as he recorded a pass completion of just 64%, the lowest of any outfield United player.
It was, however, quite a small sample size at the business end of the pitch with only 22 passes attempted, 14 of which found their man.
Despite losing possession 13 times, Sesko was heavily involved further back on the pitch where he battled hard.
The centre-forward was involved in an astonishing 25 duels, almost twice as many as anyone else on either side.
He came out on top nine times and made three fouls, but it was an all-action performance from the Slovenian international who certainly made himself known to the opposition on a blustery afternoon in Manchester.
The 22-year-old epitomised the notion of defending from the front and made three tackles – the most of anyone in red.
He also made one interception and two clearances to round off a brilliant all-round performances which truly announced his arrival at Old Trafford.
