All of Bayern’s senior goalkeepers sidelined: Ulreich joins Neuer and Urbig on the injury list

With Manuel Neuer and Jonas Urbig both sidelined, Bayern Munich’s third-choice goalkeeper, Sven Ulreich, made a rare start in Saturday’s 1–1 draw with Bayer Leverkusen.

Unfortunately for Bayern, Ulreich suffered an injury during the game. The German champions confirmed that he sustained a muscle bundle tear in his right adductors.

The 37-year-old will therefore be “sidelined for the time being,” joining Neuer and Urbig on the club’s injury list.

Neuer is not expected back until after the international break, while Bayern remain hopeful that Urbig can return for the second leg of their Champions League round-of-16 tie against Atalanta on Wednesday, following the concussion he suffered in the first leg.

If not, 16-year-old Leonard Prescott, who was on the bench against both Atalanta and Bayer Leverkusen, could sensationally get his chance.
