A classic for Italian football, a hugely important game at the start of the season, and a night to remember for Massimiliano Allegri. This, and so much more, is Juventus v AC Milan. On the eve of this game, our coach held his pre-game press conference, the last one before the October break.
JUVENTUS, THEN THE INTERNATIONAL BREAK "Juve v AC Milan is always a wonderful match. For us, it's important to take another step forward against a strong side, one that hasn't lost yet and will fight until the end for a top-four spot. It won't be easy, but we'll give it everything."
THE BUILD-UP "It's been a normal week. After eight years at Juventus, I have feelings that stay with me. But it's not about revenge, and there's no risk of sitting in the wrong dugout - especially since they've swapped them round at the Stadium. For me, being in the dugout is always enjoyable and emotional. We just have to stay focused on our ultimate goal, regardless of tomorrow, because there are so many matches and so many points still to play for. We're only at the beginning, but the final objective must always remain clear in front of us as we work calmly to achieve it."
DEFENCE "We'll need to produce a tactically intense performance. Against Napoli, we defended very well, but we could certainly have done better on the situation that led to the penalty. Juventus press high and play with real intensity, and they've always scored in these kinds of games. We'll have to be spot-on technically."
DAN PETERSON'S VISIT "As a child, I used to watch his teams play. It was a really special moment, and we talked about how football and basketball have changed over time. Speaking with a man of almost 90 with such extraordinary energy was wonderful - there's always something to learn, and I hope I gave him the chance to share his thoughts too."
TOMORI AND LEÃO'S FITNESS "Tomori is fully available. Rafa, like Nkunku, is building his fitness and has had a strong week of training - his first since 17 August. His season is yet to properly start; against Napoli, he came on earlier than expected, but he's eager to perform."
LINE-UP "The first decision to make is regarding Tomori. For Estupiñán's position, I'll choose between Bartesaghi and Athekame, who can also play on the left. We also need to consider the substitutes, because those coming on can be decisive."
GABBIA AND RICCI "Matteo is a player with plenty of room to improve. He's very responsible and possesses excellent qualities. We're always pleased when a player receives an international call-up. Samuele is developing well and we're happy with him; he can play as a central midfielder or just in front of the defence."
JASHARI'S RETURN "He's probably a month away. He's begun light running on the sand, so it's a matter of patience. I hope to have him available soon."
