Amad roars back to form with emphatic display at Anfield

It was a memorable Sunday for Manchester United as they ended their nine-year winless streak at Anfield with a 2-1 win against Liverpool.

Not only that, but the Red Devils clinched back-to-back wins in the Premier League for the first time under Ruben Amorim, not the worst place to end their hoodoo.

Bryan Mbeumo got the ball rolling in the first minute itself, while Harry Maguire rose highest in the 84th minute to seal all three points for the visitors.

The mentality shown by the team, especially when Liverpool equalised will have pleased the head coach. He will also be delighted with the connection Mbeumo is building with Amad.

Amad, Mbeumo cook up a storm

The Ivorian has not been at his best this season, but he reserved his best display for the blockbuster contest against Arne Slot’s side.

He dovetailed brilliantly with the Cameroonian, and picked up an assist with an impeccably timed through ball within the first minute.

He could have grabbed another assist, and in his 59 minutes on the pitch, the Ivorian created two big chances.

What was most impressive was the way the duo overlapped and underlapped and it almost seemed like they have developed a telepathic connection.

Amad and Mbeumo gave Milos Kerkez a really hard time. The Ivory Coast international ended his shift with a passing accuracy of 96 per cent, misplacing only a single pass.

Three of those passes were into the final third, while he completed one dribble and found a teammate with one long raking ball (all stats via fotmob).

The 23-year-old also worked hard defensively, making a total of five defensive contributions in total, with one headed clearance and four interceptions.

Amorim will now demand more from the wingback, and hopefully, Amad and United can kick on from here and show some much-needed consistency to march back up the table.
