Chelsea superb win against Liverpool today looked like it had come at a cost. Both of the starting central defenders were taken off by the 65th minute as our injury crisis went from bad to absurd.
Speaking post game, assistant manager Willy Caballero had great news on both fronts though.

“The two central defenders, [the subs] were just prevention. Because they made a great effort today, but just prevention. We spoke with them already and they said that they are OK, so good for us.”
He we was also asked about Moises Caicedo, who put another brilliant man of the match showing and scored a wonder goal.
“About Moi, what can we say? He’s been playing a lot of games. Last season, the Club World Cup, the national games with Ecuador. And yeah, we need to manage sometimes because we want him to arrive well to the games.”
There’s no doubt that Caicedo has played far too much already this season – not that it seems to slow him down much. The injuries to Dario Essugo, Romeo Lavia and Andrey Santos have all come at a terrible time for him.
On the defenders, that is superb news. Josh’s problem did look like a cramp but we feared worse for Benoit.
It’s a sign of how desperate things got that we had BOTH central defenders go down and get taken off with cramp in one game. You can go whole seasons without seeing that happen once. But the Blues are throwing people into action knowing they might not last the game.
After the break, things should be far easier. These two will be back, so will Wesley Fofana, Tosin Adarabioyo and Trevoh Chalobah.
