Ruben Amorim has named Andre Onana on the bench again amid speculation over his future, while Benjamin Sesko will have to wait to make his first start for Man Utd.
Altay Bayındır started in nets for the Red Devils at Fulham on Sunday afternoon, the second Premier League game in a row the goalkeeper has been handed the gloves.
The decision comes as Onana has been heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford, while United are in talks with Royal Antwerp to sign Belgian shot stopper Senne Lammens, according to Sky Sports News.
Speaking to Sky Sports ahead of kickoff, Amorim suggested that the decision to bench Onana was a technical one and nothing to do with his possible departure.
“It’s the same kind of decision a manager has to do,” he said. I try to see the game, I try to imagine the next game, I try to put the best players to win the game. So I did that.”
Sesko could make his first appearance for Man Utd since completing his £73.7 million transfer from RB Leipzig, but he will have to do as a substitute after Matheus Cunha was tasked with filling in as a false nine, as he did on the opening weekend against Arsenal.
“We try to imagine what is going to happen during the game,” Amorim explained. “Our game needs to be consistent, the way we control the game. We need to have options to play a different game from the bench.
“Sesko has had two weeks with us so it’s trying to understand everything. I try to understand how these small things are for the player.
“I talk to the players often and sometimes we need to wait a little bit in order to help the player. We just want to win the game.”
