Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim says he still does not know whether Bryan Mbeumo, Amad Diallo or Noussair Mazraoui will be allowed to feature against Bournemouth on Monday, with the fixture falling on the same day that national teams can officially call up players for the Africa Cup of Nations.
FIFA recently confirmed that the release period for AFCON will begin on Monday, 15 December 2025, meaning clubs must make players available from that date. United play Bournemouth that evening, leaving the status of the three AFCON-bound players unresolved.
Amorim explained that the decision ultimately rests with each national team and that discussions have been ongoing.
"I don’t know if it’s going to be the same situation [with each player]. It depends on the games of every national team. They have their ideas about when they want the players.
"I expect today to have a decision or maybe tomorrow, but we are waiting until the last moment to see if we can have all the players available, to choose the best team to start the game."
All three played in United’s 4-1 win over Wolves earlier this week, with Mbeumo scoring and Diallo and Mazraoui also starting after completing training as usual. However, with the AFCON deadline approaching, United have not yet been given permission for their involvement on Monday.
Mbeumo, who has scored six league goals this season, is due to join up with Cameroon. Diallo will link up with Ivory Coast, while Mazraoui is set to join the Morocco squad. Morocco open the tournament on 21 December against Comoros, with Cameroon and Ivory Coast beginning their campaigns three days later.
