Anderlecht will face Hammerby on the 23rd of July in their bid to make the Europa League. The Belgian side, who finished fourth in the league, have been drawn against a Hammarby side that are currently fourth in the Swedish Allsvenskan. Last season the Stockholm based side finished second, a repeat of their 2024 season where they were also runners up.
Anderlecht will be hoping for a better result this season than last year when they also faced Swedish opposition in Europa League qualification. After a 1-0 win over Hacken at home, the side then lost 2-1 in Gothenburg before succumbing to the penalty shoot out. The side had a second chance of European football with the Conference League, but also failed here, losing to AEK Athens over two legs.
Pressure will certainly be on Anderlecht to go further in Europa League qualification than they did last season. However, they still need to appoint a permanent head coach. There is also plenty of work to do this summer to overhaul the squad, with players expected to leave or having already left.
