News that Tottenham are lining up potential replacements for under-pressure manager Ange Postecoglou has been building for a couple of weeks, and two of the frontrunners for the job have spoken out.
Andoni Iraola, the current Bournemouth manager, who has taken them to 10th in the league this season and the FA Cup quarter-final, has been discussed as one of the favourites for the job, and has given his thoughts, reiterating he is very happy at his current club.
“I want to do my job the best I can. I don’t know how far we can go, where we will finish. If I don’t do the job very well, [Bournemouth] will find someone else who does the job – it is like this in every job.
“I am really happy here. We have a great opportunity for the first time in the [club’s] history to go to [the FA Cup] semi-finals. That would be amazing for me personally and for the club to achieve new heights.”
Iraola’s side face Manchester City in the FA Cup this weekend and a win would mean history, as well as improve the Spaniard’s ever-growing reputation.
One of the other outstanding candidates for the job is Fulham’s Marco Silva, who has been with the London club for four years, and done a brilliant job in steadying the ship.
Under him Fulham were promoted to the Premier League, and in the two full seasons since, have finished 10th and 13th. This term they are eighth, and only three points behind Manchester City.
Speaking about the Spurs job, Silva said: “I’m happy at the place I’m at now.”
He did however indicate he has big plans for the future, going on to say: “We all have ambition, I am really ambitious.”
Fulham are also in the FA Cup quarter-finals, facing Crystal Palace.
